North — easy, if you keep it adjustable
At 87° overhead in December, even a modest eave shades a north wall at midday. In June the sun is at 40° and comes from exactly this direction, so north glass is where free warmth arrives on a 4 °C morning. The mistake is fitting something permanent: a fixed screen that rescues you in January quietly costs you every evening in July.
We'd specify: retractable or tiltable — an awning, venetians, a sunscreen roller you can raise.
